Babymania is proud to be a part of the growing phenomina - Mommies on a Mission
Mommies on a Mission is growing non-denominational voluntary group (Non-profit) of parents, committed to pooling our resources; our kids outgrown, unused or unwanted clothes, toys, toiletries, accessories and furniture, our time and or skills, and personal finances. We investigate places that need help, identify their needs and distribute accordingly. Who are Mommies on a Mission?Founded by two moms from an Online Parenting Forum ; www.babymania.co.za. Courtney Greene and Liesa Harris, initially set out to redistribute goods and do a once off nursery makeover. Whilst searching for the right orphanage to renovate, it became apparent that there was much more need than they initially anticipated. It was a natural progression to assist wherever we can. Due to the incredible support our team expanded to include Amanda McIlwraith, Lauryan Ritzlmayr and Vicki Marsh. Tracy Le Roux heads up our MOAM Cape Town team, and we are in the process of setting up teams in Durban and Brisbane, Australia. MOAM is growing! We have volunteers and donors from not only all over the country, but all over the world! With care packages from Japan and Germany, and a monetary donation from Zurich. We have received very generous donations in the form of pre-loved or unused goods, clothes, toys, cots, feeding chairs, bottles, dummies, linens and baby baths. We have also been offered various skill / service donations from Free Water Safety Workshops, and mural artistry to graphic design and web hosting and design services. Our moms offer whatever available resources they have, be it time, skills, money or goods. Every item no matter how small is appreciated. The MOAM MovementMOAM has seen support pouring in from moms all over the world. We are in the process of setting up our first international team, in Brisbane Australia. We hope to create a worldwide movement of moms getting involved in their local community’s. Who are the MOAM projects? We have set out to identify homes for HIV and OVC (Orphaned and Vulnerable Children) that fall under the radar; Homes that do not receive much, if any funding from government or corporate. We have approached non-denominational homes as our volunteers are from various backgrounds, cultures and religions. We are also working with crèches for children of low income households in high density and rural areas, as well as community projects. We have several different types of projects:• Home based care (Homes opened in personal residences) and orphanages Support MOAM |
